RVSC team Crossfire makes Premier League
The Crossfire, an under-13 girls team from Rogue Valley Soccer Club, qualified for the state's highest league, the Premier League, with a 4-1 record in a qualifying tournament Saturday and Sunday in Portland.
In its final game, the Crossfire beat the Rogue Valley Cup champions, PCU Knockouts, 1-0 on a first-half goal by Katie O'Brien. The Crossfire defense was outstanding, allowing only one goal in five games.
South Medford to hold meeting for athletes
South Medford High will host eligibility night for all fall athletes and their parents at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school auditorium.
Incoming ninth-graders through seniors planning on participating in a fall sport should attend.
There will be a brief presentation followed by students pairing up with their respective coaches to get eligibility cards.
Black Tornado camp for football to start Monday
The Black Tornado Football Camp for players in grades 7-12 starts Monday at Bowerman Field on the school campus.
The camp starts at 5:50 p.m. and costs $3. Conditioning, speed and skill work will be emphasized.

Flag football camp is in the offing from YMCA
The Rogue Valley YMCA will offer a flag football camp for boys and girls in grades 3-6 Aug. 21-25 from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The cost is $30 for non-members and $15 for YMCA members. The camp will be held at North Medford High School.
Instruction will include skill building. The week will end with campers playing games.

Figure skaters to put on show Saturday at RRRink
There will be a figure skating exhibition at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at the RRRink, 1349 Center Drive. Local skaters will be performing.
Prior to the show, there will be a Dollar Day Ice Cream Social. Cost is $1 and includes skates rental.

Phoenix girls team to put on free soccer camp
A free soccer camp for kids ages 6-10 will be held Aug. 15-17 at Colver Field in Talent.
The camp, run by the Phoenix High girls team, will be from 6-7:30 each night.
Basic skills and fun and games will be emphasized.
