Berryhill wins MWC cross country title

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Former Crater High star Bryan Berryhill won the Mountain West Conference cross country championship last Saturday, leading Colorado State to second place behind Brigham Young.

Berryhill's winning time over the 8000-meter course was 24 minutes, 52.8 seconds.

Berryhill finished nearly 12 seconds ahead of Brigham Young's John Hedengren.

The NCAA regional meet is Nov. 11 at Ogden, Utah, followed by the NCAA championship, Nov. 18, in Ames, Iowa.

Youth bowlers post big nights

Junior bowlers Robert Gibson and Holly Gibson each had big nights Wednesday.

Robert Gibson rolled a 734 series in the Generation X League at Lava Lanes. He bowled games of 232, 213 and 276 and holds down a 209 average.

Holly Gibson bowled an 809 series with games of 277, 254 and 218 to take first in the Pro-Am, earning a $100 scholarship.

MacInnis nabs gold medal in Pro-Am tourney

Eagle Point's Dean MacInnis earned a gold medal for Division I at the Southern Oregon Merchant Masters Junior Pro-Am bowling tournament on Friday, Oct. 27.

MacInnis, 16, rolled games of 297, 245 and 233 for a 775 series to go along with scores of 280, 259 and 257. He also earned a $100 scholarship for his efforts.

Randall Archer took the silver with a 1,617.

Cody Bennett won the gold in Division II with a 1,546 while Joaquin Medina's 1,544 was good enough for silver.

In Division III, Matthew Bostrom grabbed the gold with a 1,536 and Jessica Lammert finished with a silver by rolling a 1,530.

Eric Tipler and Steve Medina, both Division I competitors, each bowled 300 games in the tournament while taking home bronze medals.
