Comets go 2-0 in own jamboree

CENTRAL POINT — The Crater High girls basketball team went 2-0 Monday at a Southern Oregon Conference basketball jamboree featuring North Medford, South Medford and Eagle Point.

North and South each went 1-1, while Eagle Point dropped both of its 12-minute contests.

In the first matchup, Kelsey Verstee paced North Medford with five points during a 19-12 win over the Eagles. Danielle Rouhier led Eagle Point with six points.

South Medford road Nastasha Wright and Kellie Thomas? six points apiece to a convincing 30-6 win over Eagle Point in Game 2. Rouhier led the Eagles with three.

Sarah Pool, Janelle Sapienza and Bre Johnson each had five points to lead Crater to an 18-15 win over North Medford in the third matchup. Anna Lilly had five points for the Black Tornado.

The Comets held on for a win in the final game of the night with a 29-26 decision over South Medford.

Pool led the way for Crater with 10 points while Amy Denson added eight. Thomas once again paced the Panthers with 12 points and Emily Perttu added 10.
