Davis cards sixth ace at Bear Creek Golf Course

Don Davis carded his sixth career hole-in-one Tuesday on the No. 4 hole at Bear Creek Golf Course.

Davis, 65, used a 9-iron on the 90-yard shot, marking the second time he has aced the No. 4 hole at Bear Creek. Davis, who took up golf after retiring, has played golf for nine years and also has carded two aces on the No. 5 and No. 7 holes at Bear Creek.

Witnessing Tuesday's hole-in-one were playing partners Jerry Edmondson, Bob Plummer and Lou Harbert.

SOU's Zosel earns nod for basketball efforts

Southern Oregon University men's basketball junior Matt Zosel was named Cascade Conference player of the week, the first Raider ever to earn such an honor twice.

Zosel, a 6-foot-5 Willamette University transfer, scored 33 points and grabbed 17 rebounds over the weekend and tied a school-record by converting all nine of his shot attempts for a career-high 21 points against Northwest.

He went 15-for-18 from the field in the two games.

Signups for Little League scheduled in February

CENTRAL POINT — Central Point Little League will be holding signups at 6 p.m. on Feb. 6, 9, and 13 at Mae Richardson Elementary School.

Magerle bowls 812 series Wednesday in Medford

Central Point's Andy Magerle rolled an 812 series Wednesday in the Commercial League at Medford Lanes.

Magerle bowled games of 290, 245 and 277. He holds a 203 average.
