Eagles run dual meet record to 11-0

EAGLE POINT — There was little chance that Grants Pass was going to push Eagle Point's top-ranked dual wrestling team.

So rather than unload both barrels, the Eagles eased to their 11th straight dual victory, beginning and ending the meet with double-forfeits.

Eagle Point coach Brad McBee didn't even plan to use his son in the meet. But a variety of circumstances led to Chet McBee wrestling at 152 pounds against Grants Pass? Jarrod Miller.

McBee cranked out a 14-5 victory to improve to 18-1.

A couple other kids were sick so we decided to slide him in and let him wrestle up a weight, said the older McBee.

The coach was also impressed by John Gallo's 7-2 triumph over Joey Rossknecht, a district champion last year, at 140 pounds.

McBee also sang the praises of Brian Hayes at 135, even though Hayes lost 9-6 to Mike Watt.

He wrestled well, the coach said. He did a lot of the things we worked on and made good strides against a district runner-up (at 125 pounds) last year.
