Butte Falls uses depth to pick up win

KLAMATH FALLS — Butte Falls girls coach B.J. Rodgers regularly uses 10 players, and that depth proved to be a factor in the Loggers? 49-32 victory over Hosanna Christian in Skyline A League South Division basketball Saturday at Brixner Middle School.

The Loggers (7-2, 2-0 Sky A) led 34-29 entering the fourth quarter, then broke the game open by outscoring Hosanna 15-3 in the final period.

We basically just wore them down with steady pressure in our half-court man defense, said the veteran coach.

Elizabeth McLauchlan led the Loggers in her second game back from being out with a dislocated finger. The 5-foot-9 senior post tallied a game-high 15 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the field and was one of three Butte Falls players with seven rebounds.

The Loggers? 30-12 rebounding advantage was key in the victory, according to Rodgers.

We got some putbacks underneath and limited them to one shot most of the time, he said.

Sarah Mathews, a 6-foot freshman post, came off the Loggers? bench to grab seven rebounds and sophomore wing Krystle Rowley had seven rebounds and eight points.
