North comes up short against GP

North Medford made progress Thursday night, but came up short against visiting Grants Pass in a Southern Oregon Conference wrestling match.

The Cavemen won eight of 14 bouts en route to a 40-27 victory as North fell to 1-4 in SOC dual meets.

Norris Bier pinned Grants Pass 215-pounder Tony Delack in 40 seconds to remain unbeaten in conference meets.

He won at the Crater Classic last week, North coach Kacey McNulty said. He's really doing well.

North led 9-0 after two matches, but Zack Steddum's 8-7 win over H.D. Bragg at 119 bit into the Black Tornado's momentum.

That would've been a six-point swing, if we would've won at 119, McNulty said.
