Prospect girls cruise to victory

KLAMATH FALLS — Addie Stockebrand demonstrated her senior leadership Saturday in Skyline A League South Division girls basketball.

Stockebrand got Prospect off to a fast start and the Cougars cruised to a 58-38 victory over Hosanna Christian.

The Prospect (13-3, 7-1 Sky A) victory sets up a key showdown at Butte Falls on Tuesday for leadership in the South Division. Both teams enter the game tied for first, with North Lake ?-game behind.

Stockebrand scored eight of her 17 points in the first quarter when Prospect set the tone by grabbing an 18-6 lead. The veteran point guard also handed out five assists and retrieved four rebounds in the contest.

She's quicker than they were, Prospect coach Don Alexander said. She did a great job penetrating the middle and getting layins. They had a real problem guarding her.

Prospect junior wing Sarah Gordon had an excellent shooting game and rang up a game-high 21 points. Gordon was 9-of-18 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range.

Sophomore forward Hillary Lewis continued her steady improvement for the Cougars. Lewis pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points.

Hillary is plying real well right now, said Alexander. She does a great job of getting good position on rebounds.
