Ashland soccer club to host camps

The Ashland Soccer Club will host boys and girls soccer camps in June featuring two German "A" licensed coaches.

Peter Hyballa from Arminia Bielefeld and Karl-Heinz "Charly" Precht from TBV Lemgo will assist the Ashland boys and girls coaches, Eisa Tiatoutou and Iman Siadat, and Alex Stevens of the Rogue Valley Soccer Shop.

The boys camp is for ages 12-to-18 and will run from June 18 to June 22. The camp will start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. on the upper field at Ashland Middle School.

The girls camp is also for ages 12-to-18 but will run from June 25 to June 29. The camp also runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and will be held on the upper field at Ashland Middle School.

The cost is $80 and make checks payable to Karl-Heinz Precht. They can be mailed to: Rogue Valley Soccer Shop, 301 E. Jackson St., Medford 97501.

Bulldog boxers qualify for Junior Olympics

Three Bulldog boxers qualified for the National Junior Olympics with victories at the Pacific Northwest Junior Olympic Tournament Saturday at Eagle Point High School.

Troy Wohosky defeated Miguel Hernandez of Idaho in the 112 pound division. Lorenzo Rios Jr. beat Oscar Hernandez of Portland in the 125 pound division, and Alex Trujillo defeated Brent Rotter of Washington in the 156 pound division.

Qualifying boxers had to be 15 or 16-years-old.

The National Junior Olympics will be held in Marquette, Mich. in June.

In other action five Bulldog fighters fought their first official bouts.

Gustavo Gutierrez defeated Sky Diamond, both 8-years-old from Bulldog boxing, in the 50 pound division. Josh Gomez defeated Emanuel Gutierrez, also both Bulldog boxers, in the 125 pound division and Jonny Mancilla, 12-years-old, lost in the 95 pound division.

Mike Wilson was named outstanding senior in the tournament after his defeat of Marvin Medley from Washington in the super heavy weight division.

Javier Torres was named outstanding junior in the tournament after his victory over Orlando Hernandez of Idaho in the 119 pound division.
