Rogue Valley Rebels triumph

GRANTS PASS - The Rogue Valley Rebels 12-under girls fastpitch softball team went 5-0 to win the six-team Boatnik tournament on Sunday at Riverside Park.

For the tournament, the Rebels outscored their opponents 54-5.

In Game — on Sunday, Rogue Valley cruised to a five-inning 13-1 win over Grants Pass.

Tiffany Schmelzer led the offensive charge with four hits in as many plate appearances.

Teammate Brooke Newsome went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Simone Hubbard added three hits with five RBI.

Kaci Sevano had two hits and pitcher Jill Jeter went four innings and had six strikeouts. Ashleigh Cuddie came in to close out the game by striking out the side.

In the championship game, Schmelzer and Hubbard each had two hits and Jeter struck out 10 to lead the Rebels to a 4-1 win over the South Medford Blue Aces.

For her efforts, Jeter was named the tournament's MVP.

The Grants Pass Blaze took third, while the North Medford Black Tornado finished fourth.
