Local players help Oregon all-star team

Baseball Oregon, a collection of Oregon high school all-star players, routed Idaho 14-0 in six innings in the second game of doubleheader at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Wash., on Monday.

In the first game, Oregon tied Washington State, 1-1.

The games were part of a Northwest tournament.

Against Idaho, Bill Rowe, who will be a senior at Ashland, went 1-for-2 and scored two runs. Classmate Mike Allen went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

In the opener, Evan McArthur, a senior at North Medford, went 2-for-2.

Oregon continues play today against Washington Metro and Idaho.

Trimmer triumphs in EWGA tournament

Darci Trimmer captured first place in the low gross championship flight in the Office Depot Championship Sectional Tournament at the Vicwood Golf Course in Olympia, Wash., on Saturday.

Anne Reynolds finished second and Nancy Gish finished third respectively in low-net, first-flight play.

Eileen Whitten won low net in the second flight, while Pam Holzworth did likewise in the third flight, with De Rider placing third.

Linda Scott claimed low net in the fourth flight.

The players represented the Rogue Valley chapter in the Executive Women's Golf Association event.

Allred wins Rogue Valley club crown by nine shots

Jason Allred shot 71 on Sunday to easily win the Rogue Valley Country Club golf championship over a stellar field.

Allred's three-day total of 209 gave him a nine-stroke victory over runner-up George Daves.

Allred, who will be a senior at Pepperdine this year, opened the tourney with back-to-back 69s.

Brett Breeze had the lowest score on the final day, shooting 68 and placing ninth.

Jay Klemp won the low-net division with a score of 210.

Abby Fowler grabbed first place in the women's gross division by firing a 236, while Linda Johnson took first in net at 214.

In the senior division (50 and over) Dave Boals won the gross title with a 220, while Jim Buck edged Al Schneider with a 208 for low net.

In super senior (65 and over) play, Bob Harrell shot a 222 for low gross, and Jim Quincy posted a 206 for low net.
