SOU sweeps away OIT

KLAMATH FALLS - Brandi Brown picked up two pitching wins as the Southern Oregon University softball team swept a Cascade Conference doubleheader from 17th-ranked Oregon Tech on Sunday.

The Raiders (22-4, 10-2 Cascade Conference) took Game 1, 2-1, then held on for a 4-3, 11-inning victory in the second game.

The two wins move SOU to the top of the conference and extended its winning streak to 17 on the road.

Brown tossed a complete-game, five-hitter in the opener and Angie Chaplin provided the offense with two hits and both SOU RBIs.

In the nightcap, Brown relieved starter Seanna Doyel in the fifth inning and went the rest of the way for the win.

Oregon Tech put three runs on the board in the third inning, but the Raiders fought back with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Stacey Marshall grounded into a fielders choice in the top half of the 11th to score Latisha Inget from third for the eventual game-winner.

Chaplin had four hits, while Alyssa Ellis and Marshall each added two.
