TALENT - Making the most of a rare chance to tangle with varsity competition, the Phoenix freshmen baseball team put up 11 runs in the first four innings to beat Butte Falls, 11-7, Wednesday at Hagler-James Field.

Brenton Ferguson allowed no earned runs in six innings and struck out five to earn the pitching victory.

John West went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Chad Walker picked up a pair of RBIs and Jerred Renskers was 3-for-3 to pace the Pirates' 13-hit explosion.

The Loggers used a seven-run top of the fifth inning to cut an 11-0 deficit to 11-7 but could crawl no closer.

Barry Parker drilled a triple and finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Butte Falls.

The Phoenix freshmen boast an overall record of 13-3-1.
