Golf

Southern Oregon junior golfers Stephanie Johns

and Caroline Keating

won the championship at the Oregon Golf Association Best Ball Championship at Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis on Aug. 20.

Johns, a sophomore-to-be at Ashland High, and Keating, an incoming junior at Phoenix High, shot a combined score of 76 to win the tournament in girls 15-17 age group on the par-72 course.

and Colin Tucker

teamed up to shoot a score of 68 to finish third in boys 15-17 age division.

Chad Staley

recorded a hole-in-one on Aug. 20 at Cedar Links Golf Club.

Staley used an 8-iron to ace the 157-yard ninth hole.

John Watt

notched a hole-in-one on Aug. 21 at Cedar Links Golf Club.

Watt used an 8-iron on the 116-yard 17th hole. The shot was witnessed by Virg Syverson, Kevin Vanderkolk and Joe Mussio.

Lorrie Peterson

recorded her first-ever hole-in-one Saturday at the Running Y Golf Course.

Peterson used a 7-iron on the 102-yard seventh hole.

Soccer

The Siege,

a U-12 Rogue Valley Soccer Club team, qualified for the Premier League by finishing first in its group of a six at a tournament last weekend.

The top 12 out of 51 teams made the league after two weeks of qualifying, in which The Siege went 6-2-2.

Jessica Reid, who had a hat trick in one game, was the team's leading scorer.
