Butte Falls continues unbeaten streak

BUTTE FALLS ' A streak that reaches into the 1999 season grew one game larger for the Butte Falls volleyball team on Friday.

The Loggers (18-4, 12-0 Sky A) took out North Lake 25-11, 25-16, 27-25 to finish Skyline A Southern Division play 12-0 and run their conference unbeaten streak to 37 games.

Over the past 13 seasons ' eight of which are under coach Mike Harrington's tutelage ' Butte Falls has amassed a 118-6 record to go along with 11 titles and two runner-up finishes in Sky A Southern Division action.

Butte Falls plays Sky A Northern Division champion Days Creek on next Saturday at — p.m. at Douglas High in a four-team Sky A playoff. The top two teams from the playoff advance to the Class 1A state tournament in Springfield on Nov. 8-9.

The Loggers need just the one more win to rejoin the state playoff field for the first time in two seasons.

The girls have this refuse to lose attitude, said Harrington. We haven't peaked yet and the girls are not done working towards their goal.

We're ready to get back to state.

Butte Falls made quick work of North Lake in the first two games before running into a tight Game 3.

A back-and-forth contest that saw North Lake lead 25-24 swayed back in favor of the Loggers when junior Sarah Matthews served out the final three points.

Matthews finished with six service aces, while junior Asia Million had a team-high 14 kills. Teammate Kathi St. George had 11 digs and Krystle Rowley led the way with 16 assists.
