Early run helps PLU pull away from SOU

TACOMA, Wash. ' Pacific Lutheran used a 23-3 run in the first half to pull away from the Southern Oregon University women's basketball team in a 57-31 non-conference victory at Olson Auditorium.

PLU's 26-point victory margin was three points bigger than the 65-42 Lute win six days ago in Ashland, and it was the lowest output for a Raider team since a 51-29 setback at Alaska-Fairbanks in November of 2000.

SOU (5-6), which had a four-game road win streak snapped, got 3-pointers from Sara Marks and Kelley Dexter and a basket from Ashley Nunley to take an 8-2 lead at the 15:10 mark of the first half.

However, the Raiders managed only three points the rest of the stanza, resulting in a 30-11 PLU lead at the break.

Marks paced Southern with 14 points.
