Grizzlies' chance at victory rims out at buzzer

EUGENE ' In a battle of offensive attrition, the Ashland boys basketball team had the last shot, but senior guard Chris Presicci's jumper at the buzzer rolled off the rim to give Sheldon a 39-38 non-conference win Friday night.

The Grizzlies (5-2) held the Irish to just four points in the fourth quarter.

But Ashland, missing senior forward Clint Bryan because of a pulled Achilles tendon, couldn't find much offense outside of Bryan Clevenger. The senior wing produced 19 points and splashed all four of the Grizzlies' 3-pointers.

Sophomores Jeff Skinner and Chris Mackovjak provided the Grizzlies with rebounding muscle, securing six and five boards, respectively.
