Bowling
Buster Keaton
shot a 700 series in the Lava Lanes Senior League on Jan. 29. Keaton rolled games of 224, 235 and 247 for a 706 series.
Tony Bristow
bowled his first-ever 300 game in the Medford 600 Club Tournament Invitational Trios at Lava Lanes on Jan. 26. He finished with a 685 series.
Kelly Swope
registered a 300 game in the Commercial League at Medford Lanes on Jan. 29. He also added a 188 and 279 game for a 767 series.
Rosyne Gosch, 96, posted a 496 series in the Senior League at Roxy Ann Lanes on Jan. 27. Gosch surpassed her 132 average with games of 174, 168 and 154.
Melissa Eilenberger
registered a 726 series in the Buzzsaw Scratch Classic League at Lava Lanes on Jan. 30. Eilenberger bowled games of 279, 223 and 224. She holds a 212 average.
Taz Sutherlin
rolled a 300 game in the Buzzsaw Scratch Classic League at Lava Lanes on Jan. 30. Sutherlin added games of 232 and 235 for a 767 series.
Cheerleading
The Phoenix High cheerleading squad placed fifth in the Class 3A small division at the state cheerleading competition at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland on Feb. 1. It was the first time since 1985 that Phoenix has placed in the state event.
Competing for the Pirates were Felisha McGee, Paola Mobley, Brenna Moore, Alyssa Pointer, Kyli Pedersen, Fawn Sanders, Tara Steinmetz
and Krystal Wilden.
Swimming
Superior Aquatics' Jenna Cooper
met five state qualifying times last weekend in the Woodburn Qualifying Tournament.
Cooper will compete in this weekend's Speedo Short Course 10-under State Championships in Springfield. Teammates Lindsey Gilmore, Kendra Haugen, Lucas Opgenorth, Ryken Robbins, Derek Tarnawa
and Elias Opgenorth
will be competing in relays at the tournament.
