Bulldog boxers fare well at regionals

PORTLAND ' The Medford Bulldogs Boxing Club sent three fighters to the Senior USA Regional Championships and came away with as many victories on Sunday.

The event featured competitors from Oregon, Idaho and Washington ranging in age from 17 to 33.

With victories in their title bouts, Bulldogs' Troy Wohosky, Enrique Gallegos and Mike Wilson will represent Oregon at the USA Nationals held in Colorado Springs, Colo., on March 24-28.

Wohosky, a 17-year-old fighting at 119 pounds, went the full four rounds with Jose Rodriguez, of Othello, Wash., but dominated in the final minutes to improve his overall record to 47-9 and earn his first trip to nationals.

At 152, Gallegos, 20, knocked out Caleb Fisher, of Arlington, Wash., in the second round on Saturday then defeated Chad Kramer (Spokane, Wash.) with a devastating body attack to up his mark to 58-22.

Wilson (201-plus), 20, used his speed and crisp combinations to cruise past Seattle's Joseph Leapai in four rounds.

Bulldog coach Jim Pedrojetti was named head man for the Oregon squad making it's trip to nationals. Of the four Oregon representatives, three were Bulldog boxers.
