Eagle Point downs Phoenix

EAGLE POINT ' Chris Boyd, Ryan Augino and Mark Farrell smacked two hits apiece to spark Eagle Point to an 8-6 home victory over Phoenix in non-conference baseball action at The Yard on Wednesday.

The Eagles (4-0) bolted to a 6-0 edge through three innings, but the Pirates (1-2) rallied with a four-run fourth to make it a game.

Brady Rhodes and Kevin Hudnall laced two hits each to pace Phoenix's seven-hit attack.

Phoenix has got a good club, Eagle Point head coach Tom Britton said. They're gonna win a lot of games.

Eagles starting pitcher Ron Depuy (2-0) allowed just one hit in three shutout innings.

Boyd scored three runs, Augino drove in two and Farrell crossed home once in addition to their hits.

We've been balanced so far, Britton said of his team's offense, which produced eight hits in all Wednesday. Everybody's hitting pretty good.
