Cascade Christian rallies to beat Chiloquin Teams who are down by double digits going into the fourth quarter should take a lesson from the Cascade Christian girls basketball team ' and never give up.
The Challengers rallied from an 11-point deficit Friday night against Chiloquin at Superior Gym, winning 54-50 in their South Cascade League opener.
Trailing 41-30 going into the final stanza, Cascade Christian (7-4, 1-0 SCL) went on a 22-4 run. The Challengers started hitting 3-pointers, but more importantly, hit their free throws, making 11 of 14 attempts in the fourth quarter.
Junior forward Chelsea Winner went 7-for-8 from the free throw line in that stretch to finish with 13 points.
Teammate Cori Brown hit one of her two 3-pointers with 3:16 remaining to tie the game at 47. The Challengers took their first lead since the second quarter with 2:21 to go on a putback by Rusti Mosser.
Cascade Christian led by five with 20 seconds to play, but Chiloquin refused to go quietly, as Becca Miller hit a three to make the score 52-50.
— Winner iced the game with a pair of free throws with two seconds on the clock.
Sophomore Katie O'Brien finished with 13 points, and Brown added 11.

BUTTE FALLS 52, TRIAD 27 ' At Triad, Sarah Matthews and Cassy Bartel scored 22 and 20 points, respectively, and had fine all-around games as Butte Falls won its Skyline A League opener.
The two Logger post players each grabbed nine rebounds and helped limit returning first-team all-leaguer Ashley Dubrey to five points.
Brianna Smeltz chipped in five assists and six points for Butt Falls (7-5 overall).
