Hidden Valley shocks Skyline with win over Henley

Hidden Valley shocks Skyline with win over HenleyMURPHY ' Hidden Valley sounded a warning to the rest of the Skyline Conference Friday with a 64-55 boys basketball triumph over Henley.

The Mustangs gave every indication they will be in the league title chase with the comfortable win over the state's eighth-ranked team.

Nick Hayter scored 24 points and Will Dillon 13 for the Mustangs (10-2, 2-0 Skyline).

We came out and played good defense in the first half and pretty much throughout the whole game, said Hidden Valley coach Norm Hayter. We had a couple breakdowns at different times, and they hit the boards real hard. They were relentless as far as battling back and stuff.

The Mustangs led by as many as 15 points early in the third quarter, but the Hornets charged back to within two.

They stepped up their defense and we had to step up and match their intensity, said Hayter, and that's kind of what we did.

— Hidden Valley built its lead back to 18 before Henley made a late surge.

Skyler Ogden added 11 points in the win and played a strong game in transition for the Mustangs.
