Junior golf program set to start at Stewart Meadows

A six-week junior golf instruction course will begin at Stewart Meadows Golf Course on June 23.

The 90-minute sessions are for players ages 8 to 17 and start at 9:30 a.m. for beginners and 11:30 a.m. for intermediate players.

The cost is &

36;50.

The program includes range balls, green fees, refreshments and prizes.

White-Hoppe honored as All-American rower

ANN ARBOR, Mich. ' For the second year in a row, Oregon State women's rower Julia White-Hoppe was honored as an All-American by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

— A senior in the varsity eight, White-Hoppe was a second-team selection this year after earning first-team accolades in 2003.

White-Hoppe, a South Medford High grad, rowed the fourth seat in the varsity eight, which finished seventh at the Pac-10 Championships this year after winning the Petite Final. She also served as team captain.

Four local players selected for 3A baseball series

Four local standouts have been named to the 25th annual North-South 3A All-Star Baseball Series to be played June 12-13 at Legion Field in Roseburg.

Rogue River's Matt Frederick is joined on the South roster by North Valley's Andrew Saeman and Drew DeChenne and Henley's BJ Holloway.

The South team will be coached by North Valley's Mike Reese and another coach to be determined following Saturday's state championship final.
