Shipley sparks Challengers to comeback victory

Andrew Shipley had a big hand in fueling one of the greatest comebacks in Cascade Christian High basketball history.

The sophomore guard scored 14 of his 17 points in the final four minutes as the Challengers (8-6, 2-2 SCL) roared back from a 15-point, fourth-quarter deficit to pin a 75-67 Southern Cascade League loss on Chiloquin (7-7, 1-3).

Shipley drilled four 3-point baskets during the late run and completed a pair of rare four-point plays in the process when he got fouled on treys and added free throws.

It was a tremendous comeback, the best since I've been the head coach at Cascade, said Brian Morse, now in his 18th season with the Challengers. They were in a full-court press and a zone defense the whole game. We finally started to beat the press in the fourth quarter and Andrew got some open looks and buried them.

It was fun to watch.

— Sophomore Josh Smith also enjoyed a big night for the Challengers with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals.
