Heider handcuffs Henley on two hits

EAGLE POINT ' Kelsey Heider looked in mid-season form in Eagle Point's softball opener Monday.

The senior pitcher fired a two-hitter as the Eagles defeated Henley 10-1.

Heider struck out 10, walked one and hit one batter. She allowed an unearned run in the fourth inning.

(Heider) looked prepared, Eagle Point second-year coach Jackie Auchard said. She was hitting her spots and moving the ball around.

Heider helped her cause with two hits, including a two-run double in the sixth.

Shannon Richardson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to spark the Eagles' 12-hit attack.

— Kirsten Emigh and Terrah Whipple added two hits apiece for the Eagles.

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead when Heider walked, Richardson singled and Tenille Anderson provided a two-out, two-run triple.

I was impressed with our girls, said Auchard. They looked cohesive, like they have been playing awhile.
