Standifer reaps rewards for soccer exploits

SALEM ' Former North Medford soccer player Jennifer Standifer was named newcomer of the year and best defender for the Willamette University women's soccer team at a recent team banquet.

Standifer was one of four freshman defenders who helped the Bearcats to an 11-6-3 record and second place in the Northwest Conference. She started in 12 games and solidified a Bearcat defense that was second in the league in the least amount of goals per game.

Jennifer was an excellent addition to our team. She quickly became our best man-on-man defender and we look for her to give us three more outstanding years, said Bearcat head coach Jim Tursi.
