No. 7 Raiders to host No. 8 Menlo tonight

The Southern Oregon University wrestling team will host a dual meet with NAIA foe Menlo College tonight at 7 at McNeal Pavilion in Ashland.

Seventh-ranked SOU (9-3) is off to the school's best start since the 2000-01 national championship campaign. A victory tonight would be the second over No. 8 Menlo this season and would clinch a 36th-straight winning season for the Raiders.

SOU features No. 2-ranked wrestlers in Jimmy Grochowsky (165 pounds) and David O'Brien (174).

St. Mary's to resurrect its baseball program

St. Mary's High School has reinstated the baseball program for this spring after a five-year layoff.

Heading up the rebuilding process will be head coach Lonny Flora, a 1996 North Medford graduate.

The Crusaders will play a full varsity schedule in the Southern Cascade League.

— St. Mary's previously won a state baseball championship in 1982 and was state runner-up in 1976.

Flora, who played infield at North Medford under coach Brett Wolfe, will be assisted by JP Naumes and Jeff Foor.

A luncheon where players can meet the coaches is at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in the St. Mary's High gymnasium.

RiverDogs seek head coach, players for season

The Southern Oregon RiverDogs are seeking applicants for a head coach and players for the upcoming summer season.

The RiverDogs, a collegiate amateur baseball team, begin play the first week of June and conclude the season in mid-August. Only college players with eligibility will be accepted.
