Wohosky wins boxing title
TACOMA, Wash. ' Troy Wohosky of Medford's Bulldog Boxing Club moved up in weight and won the 125-pound title Saturday at the Tacoma Golden Gloves Championships.
The 20-year-old Wohosky posted a unanimous decision over Adam Feil of Sacramento, Calif., in the championship bout of the 17-and-over tournament.
On Friday, Wohosky stopped Frank Patka of Bend in the second round of the semifinals.
Wohosky, who improved his record to 70-20, will try to qualify for the USA Boxing national tournament at a regional event in Twin Falls, Idaho, Feb. 10-11.
Superheavyweight Mike Wilson of Central Point was upset Friday in the semifinals by Ashanti Jordan of San Jose, Calif.
Wilson might have been compromised by jet lag. He flew all night Thursday from Baltimore for Friday's fight.
In two other bouts involving Bulldog fighters, Javier Torres lost a 3-2 split decision to top-ranked 178-pounder Brandon Gonzales of Sacramento, and Alejandro Gonzales lost a decision in the finals to Randy Gomez of Seattle.
