Wyatt claims state title in Golden Gloves, advances
Boone Wyatt of White City dominated all four rounds to defeat Dwayne Welch of Grand Avenue Boxing Club in Portland by unanimous decision on Saturday in the 165-pound senior division at the Oregon Golden Gloves tournament.
With the victory, Wyatt, a member of the Bulldog Boxing Club, advances to the Golden Gloves regional tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., April 25-26 for a chance to move on to nationals.
The 20-year-old right-handed Wyatt pounded the 31-year-old Welch with powerful left-handed hooks to keep him off balance.
Centennial Golf Club tohold grand opening in May
Centennial Golf Club, the region's newest daily fee facility, will have its grand opening May 20.
Designed by two-time PGA Tour winner and 1977 U.S. Amateur Champion John Fought, Centennial is 7,323 yards and plays to a par of 72.
A native Oregonian, Fought designed or co-designed Pumpkin Ridge (Ghost Creek and Witch Hollow), Crosswater and the Meadows Course at Sunriver Resort, Langdon Farms Golf Club and The Reserve Golf Club.
