Dec. 16-17, 2007
Sunday, 6:21 p.m. &
Police responded to a moving vehicle collision. When officers arrived they noticed a gray Ford Escort against the fence at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The driver of the vehicle was not on scene when officers arrived. While obtaining a statement from a witness, the witness identified the driver, who had just returned to the scene as the driver of the vehicle Police spoke with the driver who had bloodshot watery eyes, heavily slurred speech and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The driver informed officers that he had been driving when he was struck by another vehicle. The driver was arrested for DUII and transported to Jackson County Jail.
Sunday, 7:50 p.m. &
Officers were dispatched to SOU Student Family Housing regarding a male who knocked on the window residence and exposed himself. The man had a black scarf over his face. Police did a thorough check of the area, but were unable to locate the man.
Friday, 2:15 a.m. &
A trespasser was reported at the Ashland Springs Hotel. The trespasser had left the area prior to police arrival.
Friday, 11:51 a.m. &
A woman reported that someone stole her vehicle while it was parked at ACH. The woman recalls driving the vehicle to the emergency parking and leaving it running in the parking lot.
Friday, 12:02 p.m. &
Police responded to Bi-Mart for a cooperative shoplifter in custody. Store security informed officers that a man had left the store without paying for a hat. He was cited and released.
Friday, 10:14 p.m. &
A woman was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device (stop light) and driving uninsured. Her vehicle was impounded.
Saturday, 5:10 p.m. &
A man reported that his vehicle had been illegally entered. His garage opener was stolen from his vehicle, and he found compartments open and items moved around in his vehicle.
Saturday, 10:18 a.m. &
A man reported that his car had been stole from the Peerless Hotel. Officers located the car at Lithia and Third. Apparently he had gone to "T's" and forgot that he had driven there and then walked back to the hotel.
Sunday, 2:15 a.m. &
An adult male was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was taken into custody and transported to detox.
Sunday, 1:15 p.m. &
Officers responded to the parking lot of Wendy's for a minor vehicle collision involving a US Forest Service vehicle. One vehicle bumped into the other while in the drive through line. The government vehicle did not sustain any damage. The other driver had minor damage to the front of her vehicle.
Monday, 4:19 p.m. &
an employee of a local business regarding an intoxicated individual flagged Police down at the intersection of Lithia Way and Oak Street. The individual, a white male adult, was heavily intoxicated and appeared to be a danger to himself. Officers transported him to the detox center in Medford.
Monday, 2:56 p.m. &
The owner of Deja-Vu reported a returned check due to non-sufficient funds. Despite several attempts, the owner had been unsuccessful at contacting the writer of the check.
Monday, 3:20 p.m. &
Officers responded to the report of a lost dog. The dog, a tan pit bull with a white nose, had been found downtown roaming with no collar. Police transported the dog to Jackson County Animal Control.
Monday, 1:06 p.m. &
A man reported the theft of his locked Schwinn electric scooter. It is described as being red with a black "Mongoose" seat and wire basket on the back.
Monday, 12:19 p.m. &
Police responded to a trespass in progress at Ashland Pets. Officers located the man outside of the store. The victim said that after a verbal confrontation, he was asked to leave the store. The man had returned shortly thereafter and started screaming profanities at the victim. The man was lodged.
Monday, 12:03 p.m. &
A relative of a male reported as a missing in danger out of Santa Rosa, California called to report that the male was at the Cedar Wood Inn and making suicidal threats. Officers contacted the male and determined he was a danger to himself. The male was placed into protective custody and transported to RVMC for an evaluation.
Monday, 11:44 a.m. &
Officers investigated an unattended death.
Monday, 10:14 a.m. &
Premier West Bank reported that they received a counterfeit $50 bill in a large deposit made by Shell Gas. There are no suspects.
Monday, 9:49 a.m. &
Someone turned in a found paycheck. The business that issued the check was notified.
Monday, 9:18 a.m. &
A citizen turned in a red Schwinn electric scooter that had been left in front of a building in the 300 block of N. Mountain Avenue.
Monday, 7:54 a.m. &
Officers responded to a report of a person trespassing at the ICCA. The reporting party said that he recognized the male and that he had trespassed three times in the last few weeks. Police found the man asleep on a couch at the back of the building. Officers explained the trespass charge and placed him under arrest.
Monday, 6:50 a.m. &
An uncooperative adult male was placed into protective custody and transported to Detox as he was unable to care for himself due to alcohol intoxication.
