Medford teachers will split $20,000 fitness prize
Five Medford teachers have won a national group award and $20,000 for transforming their bodies through nutrition and fitness in the Body for LIFE Challenge.
Representatives from Body for LIFE, a company that sells nutrition products, were in Medford today to inform the teachers they had won and present the prize money, which will be divided among the five teachers.
"They are outstanding role models for our students," said Hedrick Principal Paul Cataldo.
The winners, all physical education and health teachers at Hedrick Middle School, are Daniel Keck, Kathy Pauck, Susan Holt, Wendy Barrie and Sandee Kensinger.
The contest involved 12 weeks of exercise and a diet plan that included Body for LIFE sports nutrition products. Together, the teachers lost nearly 100 pounds.
Last year's champion for a group was the Nebraska Police Department.
