More West Nile?

Warmer months are just around the corner in Southern Oregon, and with them will come mosquitos and the potential for the return of West Nile virus.

Eugene Papineau, district manager for the county's vector control department, will give an update on the virus at today's meeting of county commissioners.

It begins at 9:30 a.m. at the county courthouse auditorium, 10 S. Oakdale Ave., and it's open to the public.

Several birds with West Nile virus were identified in Jackson County last year. The virus can be transmitted to humans, to whom it is potentially, though rarely, fatal.
