A workshop on starting a RESULTS group is planned from 7 to 9:45 p.m. March 28 at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland.
RESULTS is a citizens' lobby organization focused on ending hunger and poverty. Founder Sam Daley-Harris will speak at the meeting.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Southern Oregon will offer two free lectures by Corbett Monica, founder of Dual Diagnosis Anonymous. DDA is a self-help support group based on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and an additional five steps focusing on the dual diagnosis of mental illness and addiction.
The first lecture is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 85 S. Holly St., Medford; the second will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Options for Southern Oregon, 1215 S.W. G St., Grants Pass.
Monica has more than 30 years of clinical experience in mental health and substance abuse treatment in multiple settings, including state hospitals and prisons. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and is currently the executive director of Dual Diagnosis Anonymous of Oregon, Inc.
The Pear Blossom Association will holds its annual competition on March 29, when eight Rogue Valley high school seniors will compete for the Pear Blossom Queen's crown. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at North Medford High School, 1900 N. Keene Way.
In addition to representing the Medford area and the Pear Blossom Festival in other events, the winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Entertainment during the pageant will include a ballroom dance competition with five young couples competing for $1,000 in prize money.

Five-year-olds are eligible to participate in the 2008 Pear Blossom Junior Royalty Pageant and ride in the Pear Blossom parade.
The theme of the 55th Pear Blossom Festival parade is "We're Gonna Rock This Town." The parade will be held April 12 in Medford and all Junior Royalty entrants may ride in the parade.
