Gold Hill election signs disappear, councilman reports
Gold Hill city officials have reported that the majority of campaign signs posted for two write-in candidates and interim mayor Gus Wolf - and one large sign supporting presidential hopeful Barack Obama - were taken down some time Monday night.
Councilman Mike Ely told the Mail Tribune today that the signs were removed between the close of a council meeting Monday night at City Hall and this morning. Later reports by write-in candidate Cathy Swick found the signs near the place they were initially posted, but laying down and not visible to traveling motorists. Ely said the city had not filed a report with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
"I guess we could call it trespassing but it'd be at the bottom of the crimes that need to be solved," he noted.
Interim mayor Gus Wolf was reportedly reposting the signs this morning.
