Relay for Life runs benefit cancer efforts
The American Cancer Society has organized Relay for Life events on Saturday in Ashland, Medford and Grants Pass to raise money for cancer research and celebrate cancer survivors. There will be memorial ceremonies at each relay.
The Ashland relay, at Raider Stadium on the campus of Southern Oregon University, will feature local bands to entertain the walkers. Twenty-eight relay teams will walk the track until 8 a.m. Sunday.
The opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with remarks by SOU President Mary Cullinan. The memorial ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. Call 779-6092 for more information.
The Medford relay, at South Medford High School's Spiegelberg Stadium, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday. Teams will walk the track until 8 a.m. Sunday.
The third annual Miss-Ter Relay contest will begin at 3 p.m. and a live auction at 7:15 p.m. will benefit Hematology Oncology Associates. The memorial will begin at dusk. Call 779-6092 for more information.
