Kids' Safety Day is Saturday

A fair featuring safety information is planned Saturday at the Wal-Mart store at 300 W. Valley View Road in Talent.

From noon to 4 p.m., Kids' Safety Day will offer presentations on a variety of safety topics on the lawn next to the store entrance.

Freestyle karate champion and third-degree black belt Michael Holstein of Chip Wright's Champion Karate in Medford will demonstrate self-defense techniques for kids. Police will provide child identification kits helpful in missing children cases and firefighters will check kids' car seat safety.

Community Health Center in Ashland will discuss summer safety with information on dehydration and the importance of sunscreen. Southern Oregon Humane Society will give tips for preventing dog bites.

The Talent Boys and Girls Club will offer information on its summer activities.

Hearts with a Mission Youth Shelter in Medford will present information on homeless youth in Jackson County and accept donations for the shelter.

All the presentations are free.
