Medford gallery has new leader

A Medford art gallery's former office manager will serve as interim executive director while the organization seeks a new permanent leader.

Judy Barnes, who served as executive director of the community arts organization for 10 years, stepped down last week.

Janice Alderman, office manager and volunteer coordinator at the gallery for nine years, is the new interim director.

"As a Rogue Gallery & Art Center staff member since 2000, Janice's level of expertise and in-depth organizational knowledge are an asset to the gallery," said board President Lindsay Berryman in a press release. "Her appointment allows the Rogue Gallery & Art Center to confidently continue its work as a premier showcase for high quality local and regional art and for art education."

Alderman also has experience in management services, grant administration and human resources management for universities, corporations and nonprofit organizations, including the Arts Council of Southern Oregon, Southern Oregon University Foundation and Stanford University, Berryman said.
