Opera claims $85,000 grant
Rogue Opera will collect $165,761 over three years
(note: This amount has been corrected) in a capacity-building grant from Meyer Memorial Trust.
The opera received $80,761 for the first year, $55,000 for the second and $30,00 for the third
(note: These figures have been corrected). The initial grant led to the hiring of Sarah Koca as public relations and marketing director.
The grant also will allow the Rogue Opera board to receive training in fundraising and help in development from a regular consultant, said Executive Director Lorrie Hall in a press release.
Hall said ticket sales and private donations rose to their highest levels ever last season, thanks in part to the hiring of a marketing director.
Eight board members, volunteers and staff will attend a formal two-day Benevon fundraising training in Seattle in August, Hall said.
