Food internships up for grabs
Culinary internships with Central Point's Rogue Creamery and Lillie Belle Farms are up for grabs in a statewide contest.
Oregon's tourism commission in September will select seven recipients of its Oregon Bounty Cuisinternship. Winners will have the opportunity to shadow Lillie Belle's Jeff Shepherd and Rogue Creamery's David Gremmels for a week, as well as learn from Hood River's Full Sail Brewery, Portland's Le Pigeon restaurant, Eastern Oregon's Country Natural Beef ranches, Dockside Charters fishing fleet, Penner-Ash Wine Cellars and Central Oregon's Bendistillery. Internships are fully paid and include airfare, lodging and $1,000 meal stipend.
Contestants must submit a short video, along with a statement containing no more than 140 characters, describing why they are the best candidate for a Cuisinternship. Entries must be submitted online at www.TravelOregon.com/Bounty by Sept. 18. A panel of judges, including the culinary mentors, will select winners, which will be announced beginning Sept. 28.
More information is available at the Oregon Bounty Web site, which also includes resources for tourists. Wineries, distilleries, breweries, chefs, artisan producers and farmers markets are profiled, accessible via a searchable database. The Web site also provides insider tips on where to taste the best local flavors.
