Talk history tonight

History fans gather in Jacksonville tonight to discuss the future of the Southern Oregon Historical Society.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the U.S. Hotel, Third and California streets, and is intended for public discussion about the organization.

It’s the first in a series of meetings this month and next to talk about the future of the historical society, which suspended public operations Sept. 7 because of financial problems.

A meeting for business owners is set at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, also at the U.S. Hotel. Additional meetings for the general public have been set for 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Ashland library and 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Medford library.

Details: 899-8123, ext. 245.
