Two 10-year-olds held in Central Point school vandalism
Police have arrested two 10-year-olds in $10,000 worth of vandalism to Scenic Middle School's science classrooms over the holiday weekend.
The boys, both fifth-graders, were arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief, according to Central Point Sgt. Jeff Britton.
Both crimes are felonies.
Vandals trashed four classrooms at the Central Point school just before classes were set to start. A teacher stopping by to check classrooms Tuesday morning described “a huge mess” in a group of science classrooms in the school's B building, police said.
The destruction included graffiti. Chemicals, candy and papers were strewn around the area, police said.
