Black tar heroin seized in Medford drug raid
Four people were arrested this morning when drug investigators searched a Medford apartment where neighbors claimed drugs were being sold, the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team reported.
Detectives from the team and Medford patrol officers served a search warrant at an apartment in the 800 block of Grant Street at about 8:30 a.m., MADGE supervisor Tim Doney said in a news release. The warrant came at the end of a three-month investigation into alleged drug sales at the apartment, he said.
The couple who live at the home, Jori Lace Beveridge, 25, and her boyfriend, Keith Lee Brewer, 32, and another young couple who were visiting were all taken into custody. Beveridge was charged with possession, manufacture and delivery of heroin and possession of methamphetamine. Brewer was arrested on warrants charging him with felony driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving with a suspended license and possession of synthetic drugs. He could face additional drug charges after prosecutors evaluate new evidence, officials said.
Chad Quinton Castellano, 19, of the 2800 block of Pennington Road, Medford, was arrested on a charge of possession of heroin, and his 18-year-old girlfriend, Tessa Maray Roediger, of the 900 block of Winchester Street, was arrested on suspicion of violating her Oregon Youth Authority probation. She is lodged in the county's juvenile detention center. The others are at the Jackson County Jail.
Investigators seized one ounce of injectable, black tar heroin and small amounts of meth and marijuana, as well as cash suspected to be proceeds of drug sales, Doney said. He said heroin that can be smoked is more common here than what was found at the Grant Street apartment.
