State Troopers arrest 41 drunken drivers overnight
Oregon State Police troopers arrested 41 people for DUII around the state last night and early this morning, which is seven more than they arrested on New Year's Eve last year.
Preliminary information released by OSP this morning shows that between Friday morning and 6 a.m. today, OSP troopers made 41 DUII arrests around the state, of which 18 came after midnight last night.
Last year, troopers reported 34 DUII arrests during New Year's Eve night.
Police say they did not respond to any fatal traffic crashes overnight.
Since the New Year's holiday enforcement period started 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, OSP troopers have made 44 DUII arrests. During last year's 102-hour reporting period, troopers arrested 70 DUII drivers.
According to an OSP news release, OSP troopers, county deputies and city police officers will continue a crackdown through Sunday night during the national "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest" campaign.
