Talent man charged with child pornography possession

Members of the Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes Task Force arrested a man in possession of photos and videos depicting child sexual abuse at 5:33 p.m. at his home, in the 200 block of South Pacific Highway, Monday SOHTCTF officials said. A grand jury indicted David Richardson Kauke, 52, on 15 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. Kauke has pleaded not guilty on all counts, according to court records. He is held in the Jackson County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail. Kauke's arrest is the culmination of a year-long investigation involving multiple state law enforcement agencies, including law enforcement from Missouri and Oklahoma. Police officials obtained a search warrant for Kauke's residence in May 2010 to look for evidence he possessed and shared images and videos depicting child sexual abuse. SOHTCTF officials examined computer equipment seized in the search and found the explicit images and videos during forensic analysis. Law enforcement arrested Kauke after months of analysis. Officials said they do not believe any of the material depicts local children. Kauke has a pre-trial scheduled for August 8. -Ryan Pfeil
