Richard and MaryAnn Goble of Jacksonville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 15, with a dinner at Lake of the Woods.
Richard Goble married MaryAnn Buck on Sept. 15, 1951, in Lansing, Mich.
Richard was a private 1st class in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, San Diego. After his discharge, he was a chef at various restaurants in Southern California and even cooked for John Wayne. Richard also owned his own welding business.
MaryAnn is a graduate of Lansing Practical Nursing and held various jobs in the medical field while raising the couple's children.
After retiring in 1994, the couple came from Southern California to the Rogue Valley. They attend a "Sassy Senior" water exercise class twice a week and belong to St. Joseph Parrish in Jacksonville.
The Gobles have seven children: Ann Ardohain of Spokane, Wash.; Elaine Goble of Capistrano Beach, Calif.; Cynthia Carmer of Capistrano Beach, Calif.; Alice Blandel of Eagle Point; Deborah White of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Beverly Eaves of South Laguna, Calif.; and Richard Goble of Marysville, Wash., along with nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
