U.S. Marshals shot man during attempted arrest in Albertsons parking lot
Police have confirmed that U.S. Marshals shot and killed a man outside the Medford Albertsons on West Main Street.
Medford Police Chief Tim George could not provide many details, but did say the marshals were trying to arrest the man when the shooting occurred.
Witnesses in the parking lot reported seeing the man attempt to flee the arrest in a sports-utility vehicle. As he tried to speed away, he hit at least one unmarked police car.
Two people were with the man when the shooting occurred. They have been detained by police and are being questioned, George said.
George didn't have information on why the marshals were attempting to arrest the man. His name and age haven't been released yet.
More details could be released during a press conference planned for 10 p.m. at the Medford Police Department.
