Bruins wear down rival Trojans

LOS ANGELES — David Wear had 16 points and 13 rebounds and twin brother Travis Wear had 14 points and 11 boards, helping UCLA beat Southern California 64-54 on Wednesday night to sweep the season series between the crosstown rivals.

Jerime Anderson had 14 points and five assists for the Bruins (15-11, 8-6 Pac-12), who led by double-digits for most of the night. They held a 46-25 rebounding edge.

Byron Wesley scored 16 points and Garrett Jackson had 15 for USC (6-21, 1-13), which put together a late push to make the final score more respectable. Travis Wear recorded his first career double-double.

No. 3 Missouri 83,Oklahoma State 65

At Columbia, Mo., Marcus Denmon scored 17 points to lead five teammates in double figures and Missouri avenged an earlier defeat with a win over Oklahoma State.

Ricardo Ratliffe and Michael Dixon both had 15 points and Kim English and Phil Pressey scored 13 apiece for Missouri (24-2, 11-2), which is tied with Kansas for first place in the Big 12.

No. 8 North Carolina 73,Miami 64

At Coral Gables, Fla., Harrison Barnes scored 23 points and North Carolina rallied from an eight-point deficit in the second half to beat Miami.

New Mexico 77,No. 13 San Diego State 67

At San Diego, Kendall Williams scored 21 points and Drew Gordon had 17 points and 17 rebounds as New Mexico moved into first place in the Mountain West Conference.

No. 16 Murray State 75, SE Missouri State 66

At Cape Girardeau, Mo., Donte Poole hit four 3-pointers and scored 25 points as Murray State, despite a poor game from leading scorer Isaiah Canaan, clinched its third straight Ohio Valley Conference with a victory over Southeast Missouri State.

No. 18 Indiana 71,Northwestern 66

At Bloomington, Ind., Cody Zeller scored 23 points and Verdell Jones had all six of his over the final 4:03 to lead Indiana past Northwestern.

Loyola Marymount 75,No. 21 Saint Mary's 60

At Moraga, Calif., Drew Viney scored 17 points and Anthony Ireland had 16 as Loyola Marymount bounced back from one of its most lopsided losses of the season.

No. 23 Notre Dame 71, Rutgers 53

At South Bend, Ind., Jack Cooley scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half to lead Notre Dame over Rutgers.

No. 24 Wichita State 73,Missouri State 58

At Wichita, Kan., seven-foot center Garrett Stutz hit four 3-pointers and scored 21 points to lead Wichita State over Missouri State to clinch at least a tie for the Missouri Valley Conference title.

Stutz finished 7 of 8 from the field and had 10 rebounds for the Shockers (23-4, 14-2), who were playing their first game as a ranked team since 2006-07. David Kyles added 12 points.

Anthony Downing had 17 points for Missouri State (16-12, 9-7).

Kyles scored 10 points and had two 3-pointers in less than 3 minutes during a 15-3 run that gave Wichita State a 56-42 lead with 10:17 remaining. The Bears never threatened after that.
