Medford police suspect that the same robber tried to hold up two sandwich shops over the weekend.
A masked man with a handgun demanded cash at Quiznos at 55 E. Stewart Ave. shortly before 9 Friday night, Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said in a news release today. Two employees at the restaurant refused to give the robber any cash. He removed the ski mask he was wearing and left.
He was described as a white man, 35 to 50 years of age, about 6 feet 1 inch tall with a thin build and short, light hair with some gray. He was wearing a jacket with purple, black and possibly green. He displayed a black handgun during the robbery attempt and was last seen walking east from Quiznos, police said.
Minutes before 9 p.m. Sunday, police were called to Subway at 1550 Biddle Road for a robbery that had just occurred. Officers learned that a man wearing a ski mask entered the business armed with what appeared to be a handgun. The robber confronted one female employee and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he walked out of the restaurant.
The employee described the suspect as a white man, 30 to 45 years of age, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a blue, black and gray jacket and a dark-colored ski mask.
