Medford area leaf collection begins Nov. 5

Leaf collection by Rogue Disposal & Recycling for Medford will begin Nov. 5. There is no charge, and the leaves will be made into garden-friendly compost or mulch.

Customers in the north Medford zone, which essentially is all residents north of Main Street and Hillcrest Road, can have leaves collected the weeks of Nov. 5-9, Nov. 26-30 and Dec. 17-21.

The collection dates for the south Medford zone (everything south of Main and Hillcrest) are Nov. 12-16, Dec. 3-7 and Dec. 24-28.

Central Point pickup dates are Nov. 19 and Dec. 14.

Phoenix will have a pickup on Dec. 10.

To participate, scoop leaves into heavy-duty plastic bags (30-gallon yard bags work best). Tie the bags shut and carry them to the curb in the public right of way. If you don't have a curb, place your bags off the roadway, approximately 8 feet from the pavement.

While supplies last, Medford residents can get 10 bags for free, or 30 bags for $1, at the Rogue Disposal Customer Service Center, 8001 Table Rock Road, White City, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Medford residents also can pick up 10 bags at no extra charge at the city of Medford engineering office in the Lausmann Annex, 200 S. Ivy St.

There is no limit to the number of bags you may set out, but all leaves must be placed in bags. Crews will not remove bags containing tree branches, lawn clippings or other debris, and bags should weigh less than 40 pounds.

Mobile-home park residents are advised to call their manager for collection information.
