Couple in Lincoln City standoff suspected of Montana robbery
LINCOLN City — The police chief in the Oregon coastal town of Lincoln City says a woman who fatally shot herself after an hours-long standoff with police, and a man who was injured by a police car had both been sought in the armed robbery of a Montana coin shop.
Chief Keith Kilian said the woman shot herself shortly before 9 p.m. Friday. She had been holed up in a vehicle with a handgun for hours, surrounded by the Oregon State Police SWAT team and officers from multiple agencies.
The chief says the man hit by a police car earlier Friday was flown to a Portland hospital for treatment.
In Montana earlier this week, Butte-Silver Bow County Sheriff Ed Lester said warrants had been issued for Dale Edward Wallace and Sarah Jo Johnson, both 30.
Lester said the two were suspected of pointing a large-caliber handgun at the owner of Coins N Cards in Butte on Monday, tying him up and stealing five guns, cash and collectible coins.
The shop owner, who is in his 70s, was able to get out of his restraints and call for help.
